For students to learn they must be engaged. This is especially true for students who are younger. For them to really connect with the material they need to experience it. I love incorporating this idea into my teaching! I want students up, moving, playing, interacting, and most importantly having fun!

 

One of my favorite ways that I've done this is through a virtual field trip to the Mayflower.  I had all the students sit closely on the rug and experience different things the pilgrims would have.  They all loved the activity and could definitely tell me all about the conditions that the pilgrims experienced! 

 

Also, in today's society, technological skills need to be explored and built. I really enjoy bringing technology into the classroom. There are so many resources that help expand the student’s experiences and knowledge! I've been known to use songs that connect with the lesson, enriching videos, applications, and many other resources.
